Bloomberg is full of good short-term news about Asia. Biggest news (to me) is that Daewoo has bought out the automobile portion of SSangyong (sp?) and shipbuilding orders are pouring into Korea. If they can keep the labor unions in line and the population will accept a 30% income cut, Korea is going to be out of the woods. I also just read a deep consensus poll of currency traders, who think that the won (and other "beleaguered" Asian currencies) has seen the worst. Some additional decline against the dollar is already built into the next few months (unless speculators start buying them up of course) but most of the currency pros expect a levelling off in spring and a recovery by fall.

I'm looking for a short-term rebound Monday. It might be only a day if MOT reports bad numbers, but as far as I'm concerned, we can at least see the bottom from here (if the spring currency declines are not priced into semi equipment shares right now) and can also see daylight in the autumn. I'm short term (i.e. one-day) bullish, mid-term cautious to bearish, and longer-term (9 months) bullish.
