All in all, it was a great speech. Dealt with the realities of today's world in blunt honesty.

It depends on your orientation. For much of the world, the US has been the acknowledged leader since WWII. And has reaped the benefits of that leadership. But, for our own proto-fascists, the US has been a laughing stock who is repeatedly taken advantage of. Uncle Sucker. So there must have been a great deal of cognitive dissonance in the audience. Here is the newly elected leader of the US making claims that contradict the reality they have been living in. And was making claims that echoed the fascist regimes of the 1920s and 1930s. It must have been a sobering experience.
