[TI agreement]

I would imagine the payment would be made at the close of the buyout some time before Feb. 23. I don't know about sales figures.

Later ---

<..if TI has already made the payment to WSTL. if so, i think we could see an upside earnings suprise....>

One time charges and gains are excluded in the evaluation of earnings relative to the street's (ie., FC or I/B/E/S) estimate.

For Q3 reported probably in two weeks, FC consensus is a loss of <.11>. FY98, reporting in Apr, is a loss of <.43>.

My bet is they do worse than this for the year (exclusive of TI gain), and probably worse for the quarter. Any takers?

Trey: I'm not sure when TI is paying Westell that $14.8 million. I'm guessing fiscal 4Q98. Westell may break even for fiscal 1998 with this payment.

BC, GTE-CLEC, GTE Gov. Srv., City of Prince Rupert B.C., QuebecTel, Telecom Italia, John Buck Company, CTBC Telecom, SaskTel and Northland Communications Group have all started their deployments. Bell Atlantic and BT will start deploying in 1998. Those are the announced contracts, with GTE-ILEC announcing sometime in 1998. I haven't been following the ATMX contracts closely, but a few may come to Westell... until later.

PS. Don't forget that Lucent will resell the Westell DSLAM device, mux cards, line cards, etc.
