DIGITAL EQPMT. CORP. said it expects the Federal Trade Commission to approve its $700 million settlement with INTEL. The Los Angeles Times, quoting people close to an FTC probe, said FTC staff were building a case against approval of the deal on the grounds that it would limit competition to Intel's market-leading Pentium chip. Digital said it had received a request from the FTC, as was expected, in December for additional information about the deal.
