Conservatism is a failed belief system. They started out cutting taxes and then they added no new taxes to destroy our finances. I will never respect anyone who's that dumb.

Longnshort, people in California are probably the most conceited group of snowflakes I have ever seen. I should know, since I live here.

There was this one Bay Area Californian who was trolling "red state people" on FB. He was taunting them about how worthless their real estate is because no one wants to live in the "red states."

Suspecting a bluff, I decided to call him out on it and asked whether he actually owned a house here. His response was predictable. "Do YOU?"

I said yes. He didn't believe me, of course.

Turns out he didn't own a house at all. Instead, he was saving $3,000 a month (and living extremely frugally) toward the purchase of one.

Which in the Bay Area means that he will have to keep saving for five years before he can afford the down payment on a Bay Area starter home. Which could mean any of the following:

- A single-family house on the extreme edges of development, where the commute to San Francisco is 90 minutes each way.

- A townhouse in an area of Oakland (or any other liberal cesspool) that is on the verge of getting gentrified.

- A 2-3 bedroom condo in one of the more desirable places to live, like Cupertino.

And that's typical of the mentality of Californians. Just by living here, they think they're better than anyone else, but in reality most can't afford anything more than a lower middle-class lifestyle.

P.S. - This also seems to be the mentality of those living in New York City. Maybe D.C. as well.
