Apologies if this has been posted before- Palmcam from Panasonic

Panasonic will expand its presence in the digital
camera category with its newest PalmCam
model, the PV-DC1080, and a new photo
printer, the PV-PD2000.

The PalmCam features a 1.8-inch LCD, a
2MB removable CompactFlash memory card
capable of storing 24 images at a 640x480
image resolution, an optical viewfinder, a
detachable flash and a 2x zoom lens. The
PalmCam, which is about the size of a credit
card, will ship in January with a suggested retail
price of $549.95.

The PV-PD2000 printer's most interesting
function is its ability to print without the help of
a PC or notebook computer. Through the
PCMCIA slot located in the printer, the user
can take the CompactFlash card from a digital
camera and insert it directly into the printer.
The 30-bit device can print 256 colors on
3.3-inch x 4.3-inch photographic paper. Each
image takes about 95 seconds to print out.
When used with a computer, the printer can
also make hard copies of captured video
images. Details on pricing and availability have
not been determined.

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 1998--The CompactFlash Association announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES'98) that
CompactFlash cards from seventeen companies have passed the CF Compliance certification testing program.
This certification program ensures the compliance of CompactFlash cards with the CompactFlash Specification. Products that have passed the
certification program carry the CF(TM) logo and CompactFlash(TM) name.
According to Yukichi Niwa, Senior General Manager, Canon, "Many companies are entering the CompactFlash business. Seventeen of them have
now passed CFA's compliance test program and received certification. This fact impresses me and shows that CF is becoming public knowledge. More
CF card suppliers adds up to a favorable opportunity for CompactFlash.
"The wide availability by many suppliers will prompt host system makers to adopt CF as removable storage media for their system. I hope that CF
card manufacturers continue to make an effort to defeat the price attack from other types of memory cards and consolidate CF's position as a de facto
standard."
Compatibility and interchangeability of all CompactFlash products have been major advantages for CompactFlash. CompactFlash is the only small
form factor storage card that provides product compatibility certification assuring users that the CompactFlash products they buy today and in the future
are all interchangeable and compatible.
The companies whose CF cards have been certified compliant with the CompactFlash Specification include:

ActionTec Canon Eastman Kodak Company
Fujitsu Hagiwara Sys-Com Hitachi
IBM Kingmax Kingston
Lexar Media Micron Quantum Devices Mitsubishi
Panasonic Pretec SanDisk
Simple Technology Viking Components

An up-to-date list of CompactFlash cards that have been certified can be found on the CFA website at compactflash.org
.
The CompactFlash storage card is an ultra-small, removable data storage system first introduced in 1994. CompactFlash (CF) cards can be used to
store pictures taken with any CompactFlash or PC card, ATA (AT Attachment) compatible digital camera. In addition CF is supported in many other
products including handheld PCs, palmtops, voice recorders and numerous other small or rugged systems. There are currently more that 120 design-in
wins for CompactFlash.
The CFA was founded in October 1995 and now has 90 member companies.
