The DRC has nothing to gain in the short and long run to keep a fire under the conflict between the AMZ and Gecamine. The conflict between Gecamine versus Tenke Mining seems to be settled but still the whole world of investors wait for a solution on the AMZ situation. The financing of all the projects to be implemented in the Congo is at stake.
There are of course other buissness opportunities for those companies standing beside right now. The right amounts will make them partners of signifigant size, to the benefit of all actors in the drama.

One actor, the gov of DCR, has a special interest of pushing this process forwards to reach a quick solution: The so well needed money for the rebuildment of the country is getting out of their hands as the political risk increases. Surely some negtiations has already shown this the last weeks. What is in the interest of the gov of DRC is now in the interest of all the actors, including those interested in contracts but not having any (yet), a quick and transparent solution of the problems stressing the terms under which the mining process will continue in the DRC.

One part of a big cake is better than one from a little one, n'est pas? But can it be better than to small ones? ... This is not the problem right now, if this is not to be handled with care the whole situation will be a serious threat to the economy of DRC and the stability in the country. No cake at all, so to say.

Even though I have my money in Tenke and SCQ (a competitor to AMZ about Kolwezi) I believe it is in the cards that it is soon buying time in AMZ.

Good luck to you all!
