COT Positions: Latest commitment of traders positions (commodities) as of October 3rd 2017

CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (6th October) and cover positions up to Tuesday (3rd October). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

Kindly note, in some cases, numbers are rounded to nearest decimal.

Gold – Net position long and decreasing
Long positions decreased for the third consecutive week. The net long position decreased by 8,739 contracts to +203.8K contracts.

Copper – Net position long and increasing
Long positions increased last week. The net longs increased by 3,693 contracts to +33.8K contracts.

Silver – Net position long and decreasing
Long positions decreased for the third straight week and by 1,081 contracts to +59.2K contracts.

WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Speculators reduced long positions last week and by 9,792 contracts, which brought the net positions to +444.3K contracts.

Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Short positions increased for a second consecutive week and by 15,609 contracts that pushed the net position to -74.2K contracts.
