"They" were some very smart traders They bought in on the bad news coming from Hong Kong and Indonesia in the early AM. (Really bad news!!! Like the IMF plan for SE Asia falling apart). They must have gotten a 4 point gain on stocks like MSFT when they dumped later during the ensuing rally in the techs. To understand what happened on a mini scale today you have to look back at the Tuesday in OCtober after the correction. You may remember that you might have gotten Intel at 72 or 73 and hit 85 the next day. Well this was a smaller version of that. Except in the face of the Asian certainty it took more guts.
