I believe S3 production is in Hsin Chu City, Taiwan in Science Industrial Park. UMC unit UICC hit by fire: BCC TAIPEI (AFX-ASIA) - United Microelectronics Corp unit United Integrated Circuits Corp was hit by a fire around noon, the Broadcasting Corp of China reported without giving details. UICC was forced to halt production following a fire Oct 3. UMC and UICC officials were not immediately available for comment on the report. UMC closed down 2.00 at 60.00 twd on 23.75 mln shares traded.
