UN inspectors did not give Saddam a clean bill of health as you claim. They always maintained that Saddam hadn't accounted for all the WMD stockpiles they knew had had at one time. That's why the top Democrats supported the war initially ... the Clintons, Kerry, Pelosi, etc.

And the arguments for the war didn't change. The arguments were multifaceted ... you can look up and read the resolution if you want. They cited a lot of different things ... support of terrorists, WMD's, history of invading neighboring countries and plots to continue such invasions, and more.
