Thanks for the link, Ed. Sounds like that system would take a long time to train for each word (400 voices for each word?!!!)

If fonix has what they claim, theirs should be much easier. On the downside, every time I read about someone else with voice recognition on a chip, especially utilizing neural networking, I wonder just what is particularly special about fonix's approach, and why they are so secretive about it. They've got their patent, so it's not like anyone else can steal their concept; competitors are open about their products, why not fonix?

I'm sure you saw that Lernout & Hauspie has been chosen to be incorporated into Windows CE, including an automotive version, with Microsoft lining up several other corporate partners. So the world goes on, as fonix is still desperately seeking partners.
