Pkwknk, I mirror your views completely that the picture has yet to be seen and these recent mergers are just the beginning. Whether you are WCOM or AT&T you now must be able to last mile connect the 70% of the buildings that generate revenue on your network in order to truly compete with the baby bells and increase net margins. The only way to do it is fixed wireless. Biztel does not have the Capacity to handle fixed wireless in a full CLEC environment like WCII can.

With TCGI out of the way I heard some analysts say today that WCII was expected to become the next large national CLEC due to it's rapid capability to grow with wireless. They should rival ICIX and ICGX but will be the only truly national tier 1 CLEC left.

I look for WCII to offer CLEC services to both WCOM and AT&T as we move forward as they are cheaper than the RBOC's. There are a lot of voids in the networks of WCOM and AT&T and WCII has the ability to fill them as required. WCII may be offering services in some of the buildings that WCOM ar AT&T will now be in but don't have fiber to the building. If they want Broadband they will Buy/Resell WCII in lieu of the 28,800 bps RBOC.

The picture is still unfolding but I consider this to be a positive for WCII. Other analysts said today that AT&T must still utilize other forms of communication to complete their network and this is only the beginning of how the competitive local network strategies will be played out.

IMO, I think Bill Vogel at Montgomery could be very accurate in his $80 number in 12 mos. Also realize that a lot of overseas growth moneys will be comming home and WCII should prove to be one of the good ones.

What if you were a CLEC player in TCGI expecting them to be the next on to be bought out? Now where do you put your money in the CLEC sector? A national growing CLEC (WCII), regional CLEC (ICIX) or second tier CLEC (ICGX)? Probably all of the above but bet on the National one for the greatest growth potential!

Good Luck to all! 98' should be a good year!
