Wording suggests 'reserves'.

CIMA - unlike Sth Korean statements Thailand specifically suggests building their reserves. Obviously that is no guarantee but hopefully a sign that someone is finally recognizing that gold is really worth something.

It should start to sink to the market herd soon .... if $US so almighty then why aren't these gov'ts going around trying to get general populace to donate their foreign currency (I am assuming of course that they would be targeting such a drive to middle & upper-middle classes that would actually have some foreign currency holdings).

Many of the Asian countries' foreign reserves will come under severe pressure to help stabilize their economies/currencies in the short term. IMHO this must have a negative affect on the $US. Therefore, in the long term there is a VERY strong possibility that the world will realize that ANY paper currency is inherently too unstable for long term value retention and they will fall back on historical currencies (ie GOLD). Just my opinion.
