Appearances to the contrary, I was not making a religious argument. There is nothing inherently evil about religion or religious people, though organized religion is an entirely different ball game. My argument is a logical one. Charlatans and frauds require trust of the people in order fleece them. And wrapping oneself in a clock of "goodness," typically via religion or patriotism is a great cover. The opposite is true for atheists or other groups that the society stigmatizes.
