Robert - Re: "whats your impression on DEC's
fab 6 and it aquisition?"

My understanding is that the DEC Fab 6 is built/constructed similarly to Intel's basic Fab architecture - circa 1992 - 1994. Today, Intel's fabs are a bit larger.

The acquisition could be good for Intel if it is not delayed by the FTC. If they push out approval by more than a few months it could become a negative in Intel's capacity planning.

The basic agreement resolves DEC's lawsuit and from that standpoint it is very good for both Intel and DEC. If the deal goes through, DEC will be able to satisfy their Alpha requirements at a greatly reduced price and the Fab 6 employees will be given more secure positions in a mainline semiconductor manufacturing company.
