Thoughts on estimates and whispers?

With underwriters as three of the five brokerages covering TDFX, I would guess (maybe incorrectly) that those three would publish estimates the company is likely to beat. Keeping this in mind, on Monday Montgomery revised their 4Q97 estimate +0.02 to 0.06 and UBS today revised +0.04 to 0.08. Current First Call consensus for 4Q97 is 0.08. I would like to know what the thread's thoughts are about the published estimates and the unknown "whisper" numbers.

funny- if you look WAY back on the 'fools' thread, I believe I was bashed by someone who told me the price, which was in the low teens- was much too high for TDFX and was a stock to stay clear of. I believe that someone was one of the 'fools' but im probably wrong...
