I'll investigate chess programs some and used to play chess, but mostly with people...

Going solo, crossword puzzles are I'm sure another good mental exercise.

For those liking computer Chess, you might consider trying the ancient and difficult game of Go. It is easy to learn but hard to master.

I learned to play the board game, while living in Japan.

One can get the classic Windows games from Windows 7 to run on Windows Ten systems.

Windows Chess in included.

Here's how. . .

Cheers, PW.

P.S. When I first started using Window 8 (and now Windows 10) I altered the Windows 7 games to run on the later systems. Since then, they've been running flawlessly.

One can even get a version of Pinball from Windows XP to run on Windows 10 -- and Pinball doesn't require any altering.

Arena Chess GUI for Linux and Windows

playwitharena.com

I downloaded and installed Arena_3.5.1 and looks good.

Arena was the top recommendation in this review of free Chess programs.
