but she also prefaced the song with, "if we think donald trump is our problem in america we are mistaken." i like that. she's got a lot of experience in the field of social evolution. ;-) note to fans of the leni cohen line, "there's a crack in everything... it's how the light gets in." : when she played NYC on her birthday there was a low camera shot from the flying crane cam where one of the backlights shone through a narrow crack between her legs like a flashbulb. i thought it enlightening. i thought of leonard cohen. last night the performers were all seated on stage next to each other and they took turns playing one masterpiece at a time. once, when patty griffin was singing a gem of a song, joan (wearing jeans) had her hands between her legs. a small, bright, white light started flashing between her legs and YESSS... i thought of leonard cohen again! (it was the stage lighting reflecting out to the crowd off her diamond ringed finger.)
