Hi Thomas! I'm neutral on HWP as an investment, but not neutral on it, I guess, as a worthy competitor to SUNW. Just my bias.

I suppose that conglomerates are a mixed bag. GE is a great company but almost 50% of its profits are from GE Capital. So is it a manufacturing company or a financial services one? That's what I don't like about conglomerates -- they end up being schizoid. I wonder if shareholders would be better off if GE started spinning off divisions like GM is doing. Berkshire/Hathaway is a pretty successful conglomerate; Hanson isn't. Westinghouse wasn't.

Pretty ugly week here. I'm hoping that as earnings come out from the top guns the mood will improve.
