I think it is mostly a psychologic thing unless there is a cash dividend maintained at the pre split rate. When people see they have have more shares, they tend to feel wealthier. Sad but true.

Scott, I think that when management declares a stock dividend they are trying to fool investors. CKR management went down a couple of notches in my opinion when they did this. We can expect about a 9% drop in the price of CKR on January 20th.
