ERG: I think we are about to witness one of those rare historic sights that must have been a wonder to the western plains Indians, and that is the sight of a mighty herd (in their case, of buffalo, in our case, of sheep) stampeding over a cliff. One moment, the air is filled with the pounding of a thousand hooves, the next a deafening silence save for the distant cries of agony of a few broken survivors.
