I'm not sure the data supports your thought:

The main thing against one happening soon is the fact that everybody is expecting it and talking on TV about how over due it is.
Short positions against VIX are at all time highs. This suggests that many more are expecting the market to go higher in the near future.

Investors just can't resist making a quick buck on the motionless stock market.

With price swings already locked near record lows for weeks, traders have pushed short bets on the CBOE Volatility Index, or VIX — widely known as the S&P 500 fear gauge — to a new high.

It marks the fourth such record in just 11 weeks for hedge funds and large speculators, which have made a serious habit out of betting against the VIX, according to data compiled by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Grinding higher nearly every day. It will stop at some point but when? Very few periods where we've seen any grinding lower. A few hours here, a few hours there but very few to no multi-day sell offs. And even those are statistically much weaker than the upward moves.

As to what will happen with the Trump presidency, I confess I have absolutely no idea. I was not a Clinton fan, to say the least but I would never have guessed that such a person as Trump could get elected. Shows how much I know!! The lying, the outrageous behavior, the animosity he spews and very little substance in his rhetoric. I guess all of us in the good ol' US of A deserve a Presidency like this, as the antipathy and lack of civility has come home to roost....

RSI and MACD suggests we are a little closer to a move down but they can stay elevated for longer:
