That is the post I remember reading. The chart in the article indicates that in 1992 the amount of gold sold by central banks was over 500 tonnes but in 1997 it was just over 200 tonnes. It is hard enough trying to figure these things out without the conflicting information. Of course there is still the effect of gold loans which Veneroso claims to have been exceptionally high this year.

Still trying to figure it out.
