Hi Moi, thanks for the IRS pointer. I find their stuff excessively hard to comprehend. Fortunately Schwab simplifies it a bit with their interpretation. Of course the IRS and US tax law remains the ultimate arbiter of meaning.

As I understand things, I turn 70.5 in January therefore I must withdraw at least the full minimum required by April 1, 2019. If I delay all withdrawals to late March 2019, which tax year do those withdrawals get taxed in ? 2018 ? or 2019 ? My guess is 2019.

What do you think ?
