thanks, I understand the timing aspect. I expect a withdrawal is taxed in the year that it is withdrawn. I typically tap the IRA to about the current level of the required minimum withdrawal already so this should be a non-event as time progresses. It was always in my life plan to spend my IRA funds before digging into the remainder.

Is Required Minimum Withdrawal reported somehow by the Administrator ?

It is so nice and reassuring to have such a deeply involved federal government nosing about in our every day life matters. Certainly this isn't what the founding fathers had in mind when they attempted to form a more perfect Union.
