"Eric" on "Taking Stock" said he was bearish on PKD and said big oil companies were better than drillers until oil prices improve. He wasn't interested in ANY drillers. Oh well. I guess you all want to hear some news, though. This ain't news!

My "itchy fingers" are really having a hard time staying away from buying today. The discipline that is always lacking in my investment approach seems to be holding, however. The conclusion is that since my usual trades are for 1-2 pts gain over max holding of 48 hrs...why risk a larger drop and have to sell for losses now when in a short time from now, we will have an established direction for the sector? Sure, they will go back up..but why not wait until the momentum returns to put money on the line? For those of us that rode the wave of '97, we will remember the certainty of the short-term upside..and the limited risk of profitable margin trading with the drillers back then. The macro views expressed by Pengr are all playing out in the general market, and those that have followed a similar strategy are currently being rewarded.... Turnaround today? Maybe..but the market is really shaken [not just the drillers], and a "flight to quality" has come to mean CASH for this investor...
