My opinion of the gop is at an all-time low and continues to fall with each passing day.

Today we have stories of the first indictments. As of this writing, we don't know who was indicted or for what but we know one thing for sure. Republicans won't do anything about it if it's one of their own.

Recall that Nixon was asked to resign but republicans never voted to impeach. We don't know what would have happened if Nixon refused to resign. Most likely nothing. After the smoking gun was found most republicans on the Judiciary Committee voted no so the evidence seems overwhelming that republicans will never put the rule of law before their party. It's entirely plausible that Nixon would have remained in office if he refused to resign. The no votes on impeachment were made after the smoking gun was found.
