More pro-Saddam lies. I recall posting some years ago maps of the oil fields in question and I can tell you what Saddam claimed Kuwait did wasn't feasible.

The location of Kuwait's oil wells can be seen on this map ... Saddam blew them all up before retreating and as you can see they're not right on the border. And not close enough to drill horizontally into Iraqi territory:

I'm retired from a company that set a record some years ago for the longest horizontal well drilled (though this was long after the Kuwait war era - back then horizontal drilling hadn't advanced as far). .
I've also seen more detailed maps of the oil fields in southern Iraq as the company considered (but rejected) a contract to help re-develop them.
