I would like to think optimisticly also.

But was this a sign that the holders of the preferred didn't want the common stock? Or was it the company's option to convert for cash?

This is cash needed by the company to keep going. I suspect we will see more of these as time goes on.

If you look at some of the other filings you will also see they are giving away large amounts of warrants to people to raise funds for operations. They are dilutive to current holders and is why the stock is sitting below $.50 IMO.
