I have an otterbox protector. The one on my wife's Iphone 5s came in handy a couple of summers ago when she dropped it in the lake and it took about 10 minutes to retrieve. Had to immediately power off and dropped in in a bowl of rice to help dry it out (for a day) and it was fine. I've also dropped mine a couple of times and it still works fine. Not sure with the new OLED screens on the IphoneX but if I upgrade (wifes Xmass gift) it would be to the Iphone 8, not X. Tim

I use both. Three days ago i dropped my phone on a tile floor. The Outerbox case protected the phone, The Zagg screen protector cracked, but protected the phone screen. Zagg replaces the screen protector for $6 for the life of the phone. It was done for me at a Zagg kiosk in the mall in a matter of minutes.
