I do not recall any problems with wet assays, only that an experienced, trained person is needed to read the AA accurately.

I believe they are using wet assays because they are easier and more accurate, and because Bateman and others have indicated that wet assays can be used to calculate a resource, as opposed to verify the existence of gold on the property. It does appear from the "Milestones" chart on the IPM web page that IPM generally gets slightly better results from wet assays.
