The biggest problem created by us going from the petrodollar to another form of currency (there will be many, more on that later) is all those dollars held by other countries (trillions of dollars) will flood the market when the petrodollar ceases to exist. When supply rises prices fall. The US dollar will collapse (not from our debt, but because of supply and demand. Demand will fall and supply will soar. As of now, Russia is using its banking system to trade oil using the yuan plus gold. Russia and China are working together to unseat the petrodollar. China isn't insisting that their currency be the global currency yet so what they're doing is trying to get SA to do it first and then once that happens SA will let other countries use their currency. It'll be the world against the US and the world has no reason to support Trump (Russia's plan). We could easily see oil sold in Russian rubles, Chinese yuan and every other currency that exists. Saudi Arabia controls our destiny. That's why Trump went to SA to sell them our weapons. The deal Nixon made with Saudi Arabia involved two things; oil being sold using the US dollar and the US defending Saudi Arabia. A side note, Saddam asked the UN if it could use the euro to sell its oil and look what happened to him. We couldn't just invade his country for no reason, we had to kill him. The excuses for war changed faster than the seasons. Reasons for war never change. China has already won the game. Russia got this idiot elected for a reason. There isn't anyone in his crime family that understands or knows what to do. And they'll do whatever they can to ensure Russia wins. How many other White Houses hired so many people with Russian contacts? None. Tillerson received the "Russian Order of Friendship" and republicans in Congress still approved him. Their loyalty to their party has put this nation in grave danger. Mueller might be able to stop the Russian connection but I see republicans in Congress are introducing legislation to remove Mueller so Trump doesn't have to. if Mueller makes one mistake they'll take him out. They have talk radio and fox and they can control the masses. Once the idiots in that party believe things that are not true their congress has to act. As with the debt (which came from tax cutters who promised balanced budget), I don't see a solution that this nut in the WH or the nuts in Congress can deal with. We can only hope Saudi Arabia gives us enough to time to put a sane person in the WH and sane people in Congress. If they don't, it's over.
