Jay, "10-4 good buddy"

Witness that technologies evolve, it took 20 years but CBs begat cellphones... a small step in handheld microphones but a rather big evolutionary leap where your flashback is now fashionable.

Consider what a convenience it would be when driving around with a voice controlled cellphone ... say the person's name or speak the digits and the call is dialed. Maybe they have this already, I don't know.

My dad has had a voice controlled desk telephone for about 6 years. Its the OEM model that Radio Shack now sells. To program it you say the persons name 3 times and punch in the associated digits (and optionally the letters of the name for the LCD directory) and it's set. The next time you pick up the phone you hear a dial tone and a brief beep, say the name and it's dialed. Your call is confirmed as the persons name appears on the display.

PS. I've been trying some L&H technology in a car-- will report back later.
