HOLLYWOOD SCANDALS HELP ACTRESS RESUME SEXUAL ASSAULT BATTLE, AFTER ‘ATOMIC BLONDE’ PRODUCER’S LEGAL THREATS

In 2012, actress Jessica Barth was intimidated with legal threats into dropping charges against David Guillod, the executive producer of “Atomic Blonde,” which was lauded by progressive critics for its progressive message. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey scandals in Hollywood, Barth is pursuing legal action against the producer, whom she claims drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2012, who was then her manager.

“Nothing was found to be unfounded. I just stopped pursuing it because he threatened to sue me,” said Barth to The Wrap on Thursday. “I wasn’t in a place emotionally or financially to take him on legally.”

Last week, the actress described her encounter with Guillod in a post for The Wrap without naming him, and encouraged others to reach out to her about their experiences through email via WhoIsYourHarvey@gmail.com. Although she didn’t mention Guillod by name at the time, someone recognized her description and wrote in an email claiming she had a similar experience to Barth.

Barth says that the email she received encouraged her to go back to police to revive her accusations against her former manager five years after he allegedly threatened her with a lawsuit to silence her from making her accusations.

“I want to prosecute him,” she said. “I want to do whatever is in my power to make sure this never happens to another woman.”

Barth says that the alleged incident happened after a dinner that included her, Guillod, and another actress. She claims he drugged her during the meal and later sexually assaulted her.

“The wine glasses kept magically refilling. I remember feeling very drowsy at the table,” Barth recalled. “The next thing I remember is waking up at home with six hickeys on my neck. I was horrified. I was completely and utterly confused and I was sick to my stomach. Through email, he tried to play it off as a silly make-out session between friends.”

Following the incident, Barth fired him as her manager and tried to take legal action against him before he allegedly threatened her to stop.

Guillod’s legal team responded to the revived allegation to claim that her allegations were fully investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and dismissed.

“This allegation was initially made five years ago and was fully investigated by LAPD at that time,” Guillod’s attorney, Thomas M. Ferlauto to The Wrap. “Witnesses were interviewed whose version of events belied and completely contradicted Ms. Barth’s and LAPD determined the charges to be unfounded. No criminal or civil case was ever brought against Mr. Guillod.”

Barth was among the first women to speak out against Harvey Weinstein, and her co-star Seth McFarlane, who directed “Ted” and “Ted 2”, even made a joke at the disgraced producer’s expense at the Oscars in 2013.
