So you believe an SAT test score is the only thing that counts in college admission.....

FYI....although a long time ago, I never took an SAT test. Applied very late just with my HS grades and the results from a scholarship test given by the school......

Doncha just love the civil service tests......become a cop, a fireman, a postman based on the results of a written test...?

Also, the recommendation of the HS advisor carries a ton of weight.....

Here's a side story on college admissions....

My grandson had his heart set on Penn State since 9th grade and was accepted but only for first two years at a satellite campus followed by 2 at the main campus....the kid was disappointed and was prepared to reject the admission. It so happened that I had hired 3 engineers from the PS grad school and one of them wound up being the PSU recruiter for this area. I contacted him and he arranged a meeting with the NY State recruiter and they suggested that my grandson take two summer courses at Main Campus prior to Sept start of the year.....he did and did well and was admitted to Main Campus when he has maintained a 3.5 GPA ever since and couldn't be happier. He graduates this year..

Years prior to that my son was looking at grad schools and decided he wanted Penn State but the prof in charge of the program was sitting on his ass neglecting to fill out his open slots in Materials Science and others... I asked my son if he wanted me to get involved and he agreed. So I called the prof in charge of all grad science programs and told him of the stonewalling....I also reminded him that I had hired 3 Penn State grad students from the same department my son wanted to enter....he called another prof with skin in the game who remembered that I hired 3 of his students....his advice to the other prof, "find something for him, his father hired 3 of my students...." The result? My son got a research assistantship and spent 6 happy years at PSU getting his MS and PhD on a free ride....
