Even if your data on that is accurate, so what?

and a lot of those guns are weapons of war like an AK-47?

"A lot" is a rather vague term, in any case a very small percentage of weapons in the US, and an even smaller percentage of privately owned firearms are fully automatic or selective fire.

And none of that is even about the types of issues that would be researched.

It doesn't, but that's why we have research. Most of us possess a condition known as "apophenia" which prevents us from being able to "see the problem" objectively. That is why we have statistics and the Scientific Method.

Sometimes, it takes a genius to guarantee objective analysis.
