Yeah, but the technology would be purely defensive against the "misuse" of guns. If someone aims a gun at me, I have every right to kill them. The fact that in the near future autonomous systems will do this with much greater speed and accuracy than humans can is the key to nullifying the 2'nd Amendment. It is definitely going to happen.

It will be interesting to see what the Courts do. Because to thwart it, they will have to deny the Citizenry the right to protect themselves, which is supposedly the whole point of the 2'nd Amendment. I'll enjoy watching that shouting match.

Actually, it need not. But other provisions of the Constitution have been "fixed" by the Court extensively. For example, the Commerce Clause and probably every amendment in the Bill of Rights.

Today, no amendments can be added or repealed because of the makeup. Over time, as the country turns bluer, it might become easier. If we don't just change to a dictatorship and abandon the C altogether.
