Clear your browser cache (ctrl/shift/delete). Then reboot your computer and try again.

Set up email on their web site anyway - even if you plan to use an email client like Windows live. With web site email you eliminate problems due to your computer - as long as the browser works.

BTW, I have both and use Yahoo's web site most of the time but also can access the same email via Windows live. Via Windows live it sometimes fails to connect to Yahoo. Seems to be a Yahoo problem.
This never happens with gmail.

What would you advise?

1. I'm not familiar with Windows live mail. If it's in it's own directory, can you restore the files for that program from a backup before the problem began?

2. Try a 3rd party email and see if it works, like Mozilla Thunderbird, and then troubleshoot from how that responds.

First I recommend trying to narrow the problem down. Try logging into your email with another computer or smartphone. This will tell you if the email problem is with the account or with your computer.

I have Hotmail, but it is now owned by Microsoft and uses the same Outlook.Live software you use.

Btw, Welcome to the thread! -- Josh

Do you use email provided by your ISP (internet service provider)?

I use Microsoft's website email.

These names are confusing. Are you are using the email client below?
