yes, good points. Democratic Republics are themselves a fragile thing that once acquired are already on a ticking clock to extinction. Even Rome was a Republic for a brief moment in time, and then it was gone. Rome was acquisitive and the US has been acquisitive too, just not in land mass, more in financial rapaciousness. Our Republic and the Freedoms that came with it is already shrinking. FISA Courts, illegal search and seizures, rendition, political correctness and the destruction of the Freedom of Speech, corruption of our press and consolidation of our media into a few hands, the increasing appeal of Socialism...yes, we're well on our way. Nothing lasts forever.
