Except again, Congress was controlled by Republicans (Newt Gingrich leading) when the tax increases were put in place during the 90s. But you are correct that Bush Jr worked with Republicans to give us tax cuts that we didn't ask for and didn't need, which along with massive wars in the Middle East destroyed our finances.

I've always said that both Democrats and Republicans like to spend money like drunken sailors. The only difference between the two is that Democrats like to spend on the welfare state and Republicans like to spend it on war and tax cuts. Both parties are completely irresponsible when it comes to the management of our finances and our economy. We had one brief shining moment in the 90s when those two parties came together and did a few things right. In point of fact, they mostly got out of the way and let the tech boom happen, which lifted all boats. Then it all fell apart and Congress and both parties started meddling again and it's been all malaise since then.

I like it best when Republicans and Democrats don't do anything. When they attempt things they invariably make things worse. Shoot, looks at health care. Prices have doubled for everyone since Obamacare became the law of the land. It's a crime what they've done to 90% of Americans with that piece of crap legislation.
