My current computer3.40 GHz Intel Core i7-2600K, INTEL SSDS [Hard drive] 480.10 GB used for the system and applications and one TB HD for data The computer is more than six years and six months (purchased 04/12/11), and it is still very fast. If you can afford it, I believe it’s a good idea to buy a high-end machine. Most of my problems were software related (my fault). The one mechanical problem was evaporation of the water in the cooling system. The fix was to switch to a fan.
