But you will have cash. Cash is an important thing to have in a bear market. When asset values become depressed, if you can show the discipline to put the cash in a MM account and wait, who knows what incredible bargains will be available.

Also the new tax bill reduces your capital gains considerably. Do you really think that the Congress will keep tax reduction in place if the country goes into recession? After years of a good economy they can't even show a surplus. Imagine how broke we will be in a recession.
