TJ I am specialized in Neurologic Rehabilitation and Neuropsychiatry and work with brain injury and severe mental illness. We were created to not think rationally at times : Sex ,pair bonding (passionate love) and adolescence. As to sex, the drive is only as strong as needed to "multiply and fill the earth". But that is strong enough to throw logic to the side on occasion. As to passionate love, if it did not exist and love was not blind we would rationalize through things and few would pair bond. We were born to be addicted to a mate As to adolescence kids, they are just like the young bear that one day looks at its mother and brother and nods and goes the opposite direction. If teens thought logically they would realize that no one loves them more than mom and dad and life is great and they would never leave. Yes, they must go crazy. Now each of us is 0 to 100 (0 the lowest in the world 100 the highest) on each spectrum above including teenage irrationality. You don't want the coconut to be 100 or she will run away and yet at 0 she may never leave you and you miss the grand kids. My rules are love them more than you love yourself and they will know that down deep. Work on the intellect to over rule nature yet not too much on the sex and passionate love part. One can be too intellectual and take the fun out of life. Give her room if you can she will need it. Brazilian teens are much less rebellious as they are treated as adults. Also teach her there is much more to life than the here and now. On average those with spirituality are much happier people. I have written a book that makes much of psychiatry as simple as above and call the above the three crazies. If one has simple models of how the brain does things you can figure out for yourself the answer for a specific case Yet just like most economists don't get it most psychiatrists don't see what is in front of their face.I have quoted Maurice Winn as I think he is likely right. Push the girls ahead of the boys in math and science or the boys will permanently hold them back. It fits my models and will never be studied in our generation, so don't take a chance push the Coconut. I just have to decide how to proceed with the publishing, then will send you a copy
