Buy & Sell programs are strickly Arbitrage moves...it the cash to the futures....when one is higher or lower then the other and it's COST EFFECTIVE to do the program trades it automatically by computers trippped... this is my understanding...but sweetie it won't effect you or me...because most of these trades happen intraday...

unless a market energes just like this today...numbers keep getting tripped ad infinitum, generating more sells and more sells, till it stops..

and Lisa if you see the large disparity of the cash and futures you'll automatically see a buy or sell porgram, because the market will move quickly one way or the other...I mean minutes...
