Of those not covered, 10% were in pretty good health and didn't want to spend the money, the other 10% were too poor to afford coverage. When they messed with it, it went to hell in a hand basket. No system is perfect, even all those systems that everyone says are great overseas. For example, I got my ACL replaced awhile back here in the US and the costs were mostly covered by my insurance. A friend of mine who lives in the UK also had his ACL torn and his health insurance told them that only professional athletes are covered to get the ACL surgery. I have friends in Canada who have to wait for months to get care when they have serious issues. So the problem was that the left made up a cause that the majority of Americans didn't need and they pushed it so hard, they broke the system. Now we're left with crap. It's like the GOP. They always push tax cuts as their first priority, even when we don't need it. Look, if you want my opinion, the health care system I would design if I were king would be to guarantee good, free health care coverage and education for kids until they are 18. After that, they are put into a market oriented system that resembles what we had before Obamacare. I would also liberalize pricing to allow insurers to charge more for people who have conditions that have a direct correlation to their own bad habits. For the free care and education for our kids, I'd cut the military budget by whatever amount it took to provide that. The bottom line in my book is that this country needs to stop bankrupting the country to give money away to the sick and old and start investing money in our kids, who represent the future of the country. We've allowed the Baby Boomers to suck up and spend all the wealth of our country. It's time for a change. I know this is a harsh message, but if we want to have a country that survives in the long run, we need to start being responsible with our finances and economy and we need to invest in our kids.
