That's not true, bentway. The profit seeking of our health companies is why most of the breakthroughs in medicine still come from the US. The problem with our health care system is that we have allowed our health insurers and other health companies to weight in too much with our regulators and our legislators and we've lurched too far to the left with socialist medicine, so the result is a system that is the worst of both worlds: its a bad business to be in for businesses and its bad for consumers.

If we keep moving towards government ownership of the industry, I can guarantee you the system will be far worse than what we have now. The only economic system that simultaneously improves outcomes and decreases costs over time is one that is based on free markets. Socialistic systems almost always try to fix the price to keep it stable and reduce outcomes for consumers as costs continue to rise and the best and brightest move to other industries where they can make more money.

We went from a system that was stable and reasonable in terms of costs and benefits to one that is now completely out of control once Obamacare became the law of the land. The sooner we reverse course the better.
