I want environmental regulations- because I'd like clean air and water- because I need to breathe and drink water. I want my daughter's to have the right to terminate a pregnancy if they don't want to be pregnant- because any other situation is to make a woman a slave to a fetus. I want an end to the drug "wars"- because it's stupid and doesn't work. I want something meaningful to be done about gun insanity. I want health care to be provided as it is in most other Western countries- not because I give a shit about other people, but because it's awful to live in a world where other people don't have health care- it's unpleasant for everyone, not just the ill people dying in the streets, or cluttering up emergency rooms. If the republicans suddenly got a clue and protected the environment, and women's rights over their own bodies, and protected workers when they come up against their corporate masters, and wanted to do something about real healthcare for Americans- I'd vote republican. I don't give a crap what my party is called, but I do care about it's platform.
