Little mixing up of issue here. We - as a country - do not have the discipline to borrow for long range projects. We just now are borrowing a good share of the day to day operation of the government. I do NOT share your indifference to debt and the idea we should do it now because debt is cheap is our undoing and it will come back to bite us. We are indeed borrowing so conservatives can push through a tax cut. When things go south - which they always do - we will HAVE to borrow and the lenders may not be kind to us with their terms. The debt will have to be paid back and that will be ugly for our children.
