But I'm assuming they would know the answer independently of Trump. That's why I want him under oath, ala Ken Starr and Bill. I'm hoping Trump would lie...

A significant number of the questions asked at deposition are control questions, the answers to which are already known. The person being deposed has no idea which questions those are. That's just one of the fun things about depositions. It's why any prosecution lawyer in the world would love to depose Trump, and also why any defense lawyer in the world will do anything possible to avoid having Trump deposed. When (not if) Trump is ordered to submit to deposition, he'll know the inevitable outcome is very near. Until then, he will keep dodging the questions.
